Des plaines is a great city, I voted for Mayor Bogusz with great honor and pride. This bitterness associated with this Historic moment in Des plaines only rings true for the "old powers that were" preaching this "pureist" point of view that has isolated Des Plaines from a growing population of new citizen excluded from a city that we love and respect. Des Plaines Set to Elect Mayor, Aldermen, More

Candidates running for office completed questionnaires about their backgrounds, plans if elected, and more on Patch.

Des Plaines residents will vote for six city officials including a new mayor on Tuesday, as well as new board members for Maine Township High School District 207’s Board of Education. Patch asked the candidates to complete questionnaires about their backgrounds, priorities and more. Just voted. I see a Cullerton operative is running Bogusz's campaign, he has received money from various unions, Dan Kotowski, has the support of Nekritz and Moylan yet he is listed as an 'independent'. Doesn't sound like an independent to me. He's not even honest about that. j   more ›

Des Plaines Business Community Addressed by Mayoral Candidates

Des Plaines mayoral candidates spoke to chamber of commerce members and others about downtown development, gaming tax revenue expenditures and more at Giuseppe’s La Cantina Restaurant on Wednesday.

The three candidates for mayor of Des Plaines got their first chance to confront each other publically about issues raised during the campaigns. Approximately 60 community members gathered at Giuseppe’s La Cantina Restaurant, 1062 Lee St. in Des Plaines, to listen to former mayor of Des Plaines Anthony “Tony” Arredia, Third Ward Alderman Matt Bogusz and Sixth Ward Alderman Mark Walsten discuss a wide range of topics relevant to the city’s business community. Arredia, Bogusz and Walsten spoke about the history and future of downtown development including Metropolitan Square and the city’s plans renovate the public spaces, the potential of other commercial developments in Des Plaines, what gaming revenue the city receives from Rivers Casino …
