Police identify man with video from toll plaza, witness.
Police have identified and “interviewed extensively” the male driver of the vehicle that struck Scott Wolf, 17, on I-90 west of Elmhurst Road on Monday at about 1:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Des Plaines Police Department. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the manner of death of Scott Wolf, 17, of Des Plaines, was suicide, and the causes were multiple injuries and motor vehicle striking a pedestrian. “Based on information that was obtained from a witness and after reviewing footage from the Lee St. Toll Plaza, the vehicle that struck the victim was identified,” according to the report. Students, faculty and administrators at Maine West High School are dealing with the tragic news that a Maine West student was killed this morning on Interstate 90 and Elmhurst Road at about 1:30 a.m. on Monday. Victim was lying in westbound lanes, according to the report.
Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a 17-year-old Des Plaines boy early Monday morning. The victim was lying in the westbound lanes just west of the Elmhurst Road overpass, said Commander Nicholas Treantafeles of the Des Plaines Police Department. “There are no charges on the driver, but we don’t know who that driver is,” Treantafeles said. According to the police report, a witness told police the victim was lying in the westbound lanes at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a vehicle struck him. The victim was pronounced dead on scene.
