Rivers Casino Tops $38 Million in March
Illinois’ newest gaming venue continued to hold its lead in adjusted gross receipts and admissions compared with the other nine casinos in the state during March, according to a report published by the Illinois Gaming Board.
Rivers Casino raked in more than $38 million in March, and the state’s top-grossing gaming venue cashed in approximately 10 percent more in adjusted gross receipts compared with the same month last year, according to a monthly revenue report published by the Illinois Gaming Board on Friday. The state’s newest casino generated $38,149,689 in adjusted gross receipts in March, according to the Illinois Gaming Board, which was more than $3 million over last year’s take of $34,827,507. Des Plaines Considers Lobbying Efforts in Springfield
Aldermen expressed a desire for involvement with Des Plaines’ lobbying in Springfield on gaming and other issues that impact the city at a meeting on Monday.
Des Plaines city council approved expenditures on lobbying services in Springfield at a meeting Monday, but limited the length of the contracts in order to reevaluate the performance of the firms. Council members voted 7-0 in favor of entering short-term contracts, until July 1, with two of the three lobbying firms the city has previously paid to advocate for Des Plaines’ interests with regard to gaming and other issues that affect the city. Rivers Casino Valet Donates Kidney to Patron
Jamie Maldonado gave his kidney to Tim Brennan, who had been on dialysis for four years, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.
A Rivers Casino valet gave a casino patron another chance at life by donating his kidney, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports. Jamie Maldonado befriended frequent patron Tim Brennan and discovered he was on dialysis for kidney failure. Brennan had been on dialysis for four years by the time the two met, the Daily Herald reports. With 6,000 names ahead of him on the donation list, Maldonado decided to make sure Brennan’s health was taken care of by donating his own kidney to the man. It’s been two months since the surgery and both men are healthy and well, the Journal & Topics reports.

The Illinois state representative wants a 20-mile radius around Des Plaines without new casinos, the Daily Herald reported.
Illinois State Rep. Marty Moylan proposed legislation that would prevent any new casino from being built within 20 miles of Rivers Casino, 3000 S. Rivers Casino Generates More Than $32 Million in January
The casino drew 280,000 people last month, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.
More than 280,000 people visited Rivers Casino in Des Plaines this January, generating $32,358,000 in gross receipts, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports. The numbers are slightly down from December, when the casino generated $34,984,000 in gross revenues. The city of Des Plaines will receive $1.9 million in tax dollars from the January revenue, according to the newspaper.

Moylan Calls for Changes to Des Plaines Gaming Tax Agreement

Rivers Casino Employee Donates Organ to Patron
A valet worker at Rivers Casino donated an organ to a customer, the Daily Herald reported.
No, it's not the casino's latest jackpot promotion, but an employee at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road in Des Plaines, did donate an organ to one of the gaming venue's customers, the Daily Herald reported.
