Lawsuit: City Owes Police Sergeant Settlement Money

A Des Plaines police sergeant filed suit against the city for not meeting its obligations in a settlement agreement reached in 2011, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Des Plaines Police Sergeant Matthew Hicks has filed a lawsuit with the courts on Nov. 19 in which the City of Des Plaines is accused of not meeting its obligations under a settlement agreement made with Hicks, the Chicago Tribune reported. In the settlement agreement between the City of Des Plaines and Hicks made in 2011, he agreed to drop a discrimination complaint and the city agreed to drop misconduct charges. Hicks received a payout of $125,000, as part of the settlement, was approved for a pension, plus $30,372 to be paid into a retirement account. Hicks was acquitted of domestic battery charges in a McHenry County court in June 2012. Find Patch on Facebook and click the like button.
