Schakowsky, Duckworth, More to Talk Social Security, Medicare at Frisbie Senior Center

A presentation about deficit issues and how different plans to address them could impact seniors will be given at Frisbie Senior Center in Des Plaines on Friday.

A presentation on the potential impacts of various spending plans on Social Security, Medicare and more will be held at the Frisbie Senior Center in Des Plaines at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 1. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, Illinois Rep. Bill Foster and Max Richtman, president of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, the organization hosting the event, are expected to attend. Staff from Congressman Brad Schneider’s office are also expected to attend. The presentation will break down the deficit debate issues, according to a press release about the event, the various proposals being considered in Washington, and what they mean for average Americans. Raise a Stein for Seniors, Schools

The Frisbie Senior Center and the District 62 Foundation will host Brewfest in an outdoor tent on Saturday.

If you like the idea of consuming bratwurst and beer and listening to live music for charity, head over to the Frisbie Senior Center for the first annual Brewfest from 5-11 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds benefit Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Highway, and the District 62 Foundation. Three types of beer, bratwurst, hotdogs and pretzels will be served in a party tent set up in the parking lot north of the senior center. Additional parking will be available at Latoff YMCA.
