It’s windy; it’s frigid. Winter awoke at last, and it is a good time to enjoy a bowl of hot soup. Calling on the knowledge of the estimable community on Des Plaines Patch’s Facebook page, we asked, who knows a good place for soup? Dozens of customers from Des Plaines and surrounding suburbs flocked to Don’s Dock for fried shrimp on Friday.
Like community clockwork, dozens of residents from Des Plaines and other suburbs swarmed the fish counter at Don’s Dock Seafood Market, 1220 E. Northwest Highway, on Friday. Catholics celebrated Good Friday on April 6, and many do not eat red meat on Fridays during Lent, which occurs over the six weeks leading up to Easter. The signature dish is fried shrimp, and everyone Patch spoke with was waiting for an order of them. Cathleen Tite, of Park Ridge, said coming to Don’s Dock for seafood on Friday was “just a classic.” Related: Check out all of the Photos of the Day.
