Preckwinkle: Unincorporated Areas Should be Annexed

In past, annexing unincorporated areas of Des Plaines has been on a case-by-case basis.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle announced Monday she wants municipalities to annex the roughly 62 total square miles of unincorporated areas in an effort to reduce the cost to the county for providing key services such as law enforcement, the Chicago Tribune reported. Preckwinkle made the statement at a press conference where she presented the recommendations of a task force she formed to study the issue. In the past, Des Plaines has annexed unincorporated parcels in a case-by-case basis.
