Car Stolen at Night, More in Thursday Police Blotter

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Criminal Damage to Property, Graffiti Police found a sign at the former Schwake Stone building, 1313 E. Rand Road, was vandalized with graffiti while on patrol at 9:26 a.m. on May 10. The graffiti was photographed, police stated, and a work order to clean it up was completed. Theft of Gas An unknown male subject left the BP gas station, 800 S. Elmhurst Road, after pumping 11 gallons of fuel and leaving without making a payment at 5:45 p.m. on May 11, according to a police report. Property loss was estimated at $45.82. Vehicle Theft A purple Honda Civic coupe with gold rims was reported stolen on the 1400 block of Marshall Drive early Sunday morning, police stated. A witness …

Man Charged with Disorderly Conduct after Arguing with Police on Metra Train, More in Wednesday Police Blotter

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Criminal Damage to Property, Graffiti Newspaper boxes, an electrical box and signage at the Cumberland Metra depot, 485 E. Northwest Highway were vandalized with graffiti, and reported to police at 8:44 a.m. on May 10. The graffiti was photographed, police stated, and a work order to clean it up was completed. Criminal Damage to Vehicle The rear window of a vehicle was smashed with a golf-ball-sized rock while it was parked in a parking lot on the 900 block of Beau Drive sometime between 10 p.m. on May 10 and 9:30 a.m. on May 11, police stated. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Theft A 6-foot by 3-foot black grill was reported stolen from a church on the 2300 block of Dempster Street at 2 p.m. on May 9, police stated. A witness told police a scrapper truck was seen taking the grill from the area, according to the report. The grill was recently donated to the church, according to the report, and property loss was estimated at $400. Attempted Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property Police were dispatched for a report of a burglary in progress on the 2000 block of S. Eastview Drive at 8:53 p.m. on May 10, police stated. Fired Des Plaines Cop’s Arbitration Outcome Received by City

It remains unclear whether former Des Plaines Police Officer John Bueno would be reinstated to the department or the termination would be upheld, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported.

The results from an arbitration hearing held to review the termination of Des Plaines police officer John Bueno were given to the city, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported. Des Plaines City Manager Michael Bartholomew did not comment on what the outcome was, according to the newspaper. Bueno was fired in March 2012; City of Des Plaines officials did not make public the reasons for his termination. Bueno and another Des Plaines police officer, Andy Contreras, were accused of beating a man in handcuffs in a parking garage while transporting him from Elmhurst to Des Plaines in a lawsuit filed by a DuPage man in July 2012. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.   Vehicle Theft A brown 2012 Chevrolet Malibu sedan was reported stolen from Advantage Rent-a-Car, 2170 S. Mannheim Road, sometime between 5:45 p.m. on April 26 and 9 a.m. on April 27, police stated. The keys for the vehicle were in the business’ office, and were also reported missing, according to the report.   Burglary An iPod Touch and Kindle Fire were reported stolen from a residence on the 1100 block of E. Irwin Avenue sometime between 7:25 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on May 2, police stated. Police found a pry mark near the rear door and three holes in the drywall around the residence, according to the report. Attempted Burglary A man was reported to have been attempting to burglarize an office building on the 800 block of Lee Street at 5:22 p.m. on May 5, police stated. A witness told police the man was seen attempting to gain access to suites on the second floor using a screwdriver. When he became aware he was being observed, according to the report, the man fled the building and ran northbound on Lee Street. The white male subject was described as being 5-feet 3-inches to 5-feet 5-inches tall, thin build, wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt and black shorts, police stated. Burglary to Vehicle Tools including drills, saws and a socket set were removed from a van parked in a residential driveway on the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue sometime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on May 2, police stated. No sign of forced entry was found on the vehicle, according to the report. Property loss was estimated at $2,500. Theft Cash and a personal check were reported stolen at Longhorn Steakhouse, 1470 Touhy Avenue, at 7:57 p.m. on April 30. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.   Theft A black iPod Touch and an iPhone charger and case were reported stolen from the driveway of a residence between 9:30 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. on April 13, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $150.   Burglary A laptop computer and jewelry were reported stolen from a residence on the 2200 block of Douglas Avenue sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 9:47 p.m. on April 14, police stated. It appeared the unknown offender gained entry to the house by using a bench as a ladder to reach a bedroom window, which was partially open, police stated. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Counterfeit Currency Three counterfeit $100-dollar bills were used to purchase jewelry at K-Mart, 1155 E. Oakton St., at 2:43 p.m. on April 3, police stated. Police recovered the counterfeit currency and a copy of surveillance video of the incident, according to the report. The offender was described as a black male with black hair, a medium brown complexion, a slim-medium build, wearing a black coat with red stitching on the back that stated, “Dynamic Skills” and “Dexterity,” police stated.
