The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Vehicle Theft A semi-truck trailer was reported stolen from a parking lot on the 50 block of E. Howard Street at 1:11 a.m. on Feb. 28, police stated. Police reviewed surveillance video of the incident, according to the report, which showed a white, regular cab semi-tractor with dark lettering pull into the lot and remove the trailer. Theft Two unknown male subjects were seen on surveillance video unplugging, concealing and removing a scanner from the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., at 9:50 a.m. on March 1, police stated. Criminal Damage to Property An unknown white male subject, described as having a thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, was seen on video surveillance removing a gallon of milk from the shelf at Jewel-Osco, 819 S. Elmhurst Road, and pretending to fall onto the floor, smashing the gallon of milk, at 3:15 p.m. on March 5, police stated. The male subject left the store without paying for the milk or reporting the incident, according to the report. This incident was consistent with a video prank trend on YouTube, police stated. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Criminal Trespass to Property, Disorderly Conduct Olawale O. Babalola, 33, of Des Plaines, was charged with criminal trespass to property and disorderly contact after police responded to a report of a suspicious subject causing a disturbance at a tanning salon on the 1500 block of E. Oakton Street at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12. A witness told police, according to the report, Babalola entered the business, repeatedly demanded 80 cents from an employee, and, when the employee refused, reached across the counter, police stated, “in a manner which alarmed and disturbed [the employee].” Babalola was taken into custody by police and given a court date of March 7 at Skokie courthouse. …

Residential Burglary A purse containing a cell phone, cash, debit cards and other items was reported stolen, police stated, from inside an apartment on the 600 block of Colonial Lane between 9 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. on Feb. 11. A witness told police she left the door to the apartment partially open while she ran out to her vehicle to get something, according to the report, and returned to find the purse missing from the apartment. Gittins, 26, of Bay City, Michigan, was charged with battery after an altercation with security guards at Rivers Casino, 3000 S. River Road, between 11:39 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. on Feb. 10, police stated. Casino security told police, according to the report, Gittins was ejected from the casino because he was highly intoxicated, and, while escorting Gittins from the property, he shoved security guards, police stated. The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Battery Cynthia York, 48, of Des Plaines, was charged with battery following an incident at the Des Plaines police station. York came to the lobby of the police station and was highly intoxicated at 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 2, police stated, said she was very cold and wanted a cab to take her home. As police were calling a cab for York, according to the report, she collapsed on the floor. When police told York to sit on the bench while she waited for the cab, she became upset, sat up and began to crawl on her hands and knees toward the police officer, according to the report.
