New Exhibit to Offer Fresh Look at Historic Campground

A new exhibit featuring photographs of the Historic Methodist Campground in Des Plaines by local photographer Stan Kotecki will be in the Visitor Center from October through January 2011.

The Historic Methodist Campground has been located in Des Plaines for 150 years, but history enthusiasts and a local photographer want residents to see the site from another perspective. The work of Stan Kotecki will be on display at Des Plaines History Center through January 2011, with 20 of Kotecki's photographs, in addition to art work, artifacts and old pictures of the campground for visitors to see.  "I wanted to preserve a piece of history in Des Plaines," Kotecki said. "That is why I am photographing it."
