Maine South QB Alviti Lights it Up on NFL Network, Game

Even placed among some of the best high school athletes in the country at the Semper Fidelis bowl, the Maine South senior emerged as a top player in the game.

Maine South quarterback Matt Alviti is coming off one heck of a game. According to Recruiting.Scout.com, Alviti "comes from a high school system that will have him prepared for college. He is a great passer who can make all the throws. "He has touch when he needs to, velocity when he needs to, and does very well on the run. He's an athletic kid who can make plays with his feet and escape the rush and he has great poise and intangibles," the website added. Alviti was recently named a top performer in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. Although his team lost, Alviti finished 10 of 12 and passed for 104-yards and a score. The game aired on NFL Network on Jan. 4. You can check out some video of the game here. The Semper Fidelis All-American…

Maine South Bests Wheaton Warrenville South with Stellar Defense

Maine South's defense leads the Hawks past Wheaton Warrenville South 13-9.

When Maine South's schedule was released for the 2011-2012 season, high school football fans across the region were instantly attracted to the September 2 game against the Wheaton Warrenville South Tigers. Etched in everyone's memory was the Tigers' 44-7 pasting over the Hawks last year. To make matters worse, the game was on national television. Maine South would certainly respond by winning out and taking home its third consecutive class 8A state championship. However, that did not take away from the importance of this year's game, especially it being at home for Maine South. It was clear that the Hawks would not allow the Tigers' offense to dominate again. That defense led Maine South to a 13-9 victory in front of a packed Wilson Field …
