Schakowsky faces little opposition in 9th District.
Potential opponents of Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) lag behind the North Shore Congressman in fundraising, according to reports filed in the last few days with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Deerfield management consultant Brad Schneider raised $78,999 for the period ending Sept. 30, according to a report filed with the FEC Friday. He now has $417,016.93 in the bank after collecting $321,005.11 last quarter. He has also loaned his campaign $100,000 and donated $50,000 of his own money. Frustrated with Senate Republicans blocking a Democratic majority of 51 senators from passing President Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act, Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) said he's willing to change the filibuster rule to require dissenting legislators to speak continually against a bill. Durbin expressed his wish to return to the pre-2005 filibuster requirements before keynoting the New Trier Democratic Organization annual dinner Sunday in Northbrook, where more than 250 people gathered to hear his remarks. Congressman raised $376,534 for the quarter that ended Sept. 30.
Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) has nearly $1 million in the bank to finance his reelection campaign as of Sept. 30, according to a report filed Thursday with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). Dold raised $367,665 for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, according to the FEC. He has collected $1,276,067.86 since he was elected less than a year ago. None of Dold’s potential Democratic opponents—Deerfield management consultant Brad Schneider,Waukegan community organizer Ilya Sheyman or Mundelein attorney Vivek Bavda—have filed their reports yet. Congressional candidate Ilya Sheyman raised more than $140,000 from over 4,800 donors for the quarter ending Sept. 30 in his pursuit of the Democratic nomination in the March 20 primary to oppose Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) in the November, 2012 general election. Sheyman, a community organizer from Waukegan, was the first candidate to disclose his third quarter fundraising totals, which must be filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by Oct. 15. Supporters press representatives on efforts to create jobs.
Job creation was the topic foremost on people’s minds as they gathered to help candidates of their choice for Congress and other offices circulate nominating petitions due Dec. 5 for the March 20 primary ballot Saturday throughout the area.
