Sex Offender Arrested for Trespassing in Children’s Play Area

A Des Plaines man was arrested for trespassing and failing to update his address with police after witnesses reported him staring at a child in a restaurant in Elk Grove Village, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated.

A Des Plaines man was arrested for trespassing in the children’s play area at a restaurant in Elk Grove Village on Dec. 22, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office stated on Dec. 28. Witnesses said Joseph O’Brien, 36, of Maine Township, was staring at an 11-year-old girl when he was told to leave, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators found he was a registered sex offender, and, instead of residing at his address in Maine Township, O’Brien was staying at a motel near the restaurant. O’Brien was charged with failing to update his address to police and with criminal trespassing. The manager of the restaurant, in the 1900 block of E. Des Plaines Man Sentenced to 4.5 Years for Child Abduction

The 31-year-old has a criminal history of attempting to lure children, public indecency, child exploitation and more.

  A Des Plaines man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for child abduction at a hearing at Maywood Courthouse on Wednesday, the Cook County State’s Attorney's Office announced on Thursday. Jeffery Jewitt, 31, was a registered sex offender for two 2009 convictions for child abduction and child exploitation when the incidents in 2011 occurred, according to the press release. Jewitt was convicted of child abduction in August. Jewitt approached a 12-year-old boy in his car in west suburban Bloomingdale at approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 5, 2011, according to prosecutors. Kill all that rape, kill or touch a child. That simple. Lets see them dare harm any child then. Problem is the offender knows that he will get away with the crime. All he has to do is say he's crazy and talk with a "specialist" to find a reason for his "illness". Not an illness people it's in their mind to be with children.
