Patch provides news and information for dozens of suburban communities, as well as six neighborhood sites in the city of Chicago. The Community Field Sales Representative will work primarily within a group of clustered Patch sites. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office Charged an Evanston man with 11 counts of armed robbery today. The announcement was made at the Skokie police station.
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office approved 11 counts of armed robbery against an Evanston man today. The announcement was made at the Skokie Police Department at 10:30 a.m. Jason Logsdon, 41, of the 900 block of Chicago Avenue in Evanston, was charged with 11 counts of armed robbery, all Class X felonies. Police believe Logsdon is responsible for a total of 15 robberies, but the remaining four occurred in DuPage County. That county is still continuing its investigation, police said. WGN is reporting that Logsdon executed the robberies to support his cocaine and crack habit. The news outlet attributed the information to an unknown source. Logsdon appeared in court earlier today but was taken away by an ambulance to a nearby hospital…

This week's nominees for Athlete of the Week: Evanston's Leonard Garron, Glenbrook South's Olivia Smoliga, Maine West's Jordan Pessah, Niles West's Molly Kleppin, and North Shore Country Day's Austin Curren.
More than 1,480 ballots were cast in last week's competition and Maine West's Brittany Collins was named the Patch Athlete of the Week. The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, Jan. 29 - Feb. 5: Austin Curren, junior, boys basketball, North Shore Country Day – Curren has had point totals of 25, 28 and 32 points in three conference wins for the Raiders. During that time he’s shot 67 percent from the field (29/43) and has turned the ball over only five times. Curren is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. Molly Kleppin, junior, girls basketball, Niles West - Kleppin led the Wolves with 15 points in a tough win against Maine South. The following nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, Dec. 26 - Jan. 1, are: Malachi Nix, junior, basketball guard, Niles North – Nix had 13 points in the first quarter and 23 for the game in Niles North’s 62-48 win over Vernon Hills in the Wheeling Hardwood Classic consolation game. The Vikings are now 8-5 on the season as they head into CSL North play. The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, Dec. 19- Dec. 25: Lenny Bloom, senior, wrestling, Deerfield – Bloom remained undefeated on the season with three more victories in Deerfield’s recent quad meet against Huntley, Johnsburg and Lake Zurich. The 145-pound senior is looking to get back to the state championships in his final season. Jack Conner, senior, wrestling, New Trier – Conner won the 152 (lb.) title in the 27-team Hinsdale Central tournament. More than 900 votes were cast, but in the end Evanston’s Josh Irving landed this week’s Athlete of the Week. Irving received 330 votes, or 36 percent. Irving scored a game-high 20 points in Evanston’s 77-24 win against Maine East on Nov. 29. The 5-foot-10 senior drained three three-pointers as the Wildkits shot 10-for-21 from beyond the arc. The win continued Evanston’s undefeated start to the season as the Wildkits improved to 6-0. This week’s contest was also our closest one yet, with Skokie’s Mariyah Henley coming in second place, capturing 284 votes or 31 percent. This week: A couple of quick hits on Chicagoland apps, starting with… Downtown Oak Park: I don’t know why more suburbs don’t have their own apps. This one, released by Evanston-based SweetPerk, was commissioned by a downtown business group to offer shoppers events listings, attractions, deals and business listings. The good news: It’s simple to use and looks great. The bad: The content is underdeveloped. A few days ago, there were no events lists and thus far, only one attraction: The Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio. Given time, though, this could be a killer app. Right now, the architecture is there—but the app needs furniture.
