Police: ‘Elmer Fudd Bandit’ Arrested

Law enforcement reported they believe a man they arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Kentucky is the same man who robbed several other Chicago-area banks in October.

Law enforcement reported they believe they arrested a man is responsible for five armed bank robberies, and an attempted armed bank robbery in Des Plaines, in Kentucky. Todd Berkley, 39, dubbed the “Elmer Fudd Bandit” by the FBI due to the flannel shirts and caps seen on a male suspect in surveillance video, was arrested at an apartment building by Kentucky State Police and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 2, the Grayson County News Gazette reported. Law enforcement received an anonymous tip following a bank robbery that occurred at a U.S. Bank in Louisville on Thursday, the Grayson County News Gazette reported, Berkley was arrested for the outstanding felony warrant in Illinois, first-degree robbery and possession of heroin…

'Elmer Fudd Bandit' Robs Another Bank

A serial bank robber nicknamed the 'Elmer Fudd Bandit' has struck again, according to the FBI.

A serial bank robber who tried to rob a bank in Des Plaines has struck again, the FBI stated. A TCF Bank branch located at 7342 W. Foster Ave. in Chicago was robbed Monday afternoon. The man is suspected of robbing several banks in the Chicago area in October and trying to rob the TCF Bank in Jewel Osco, 819 S. Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines on Oct. 14. In the Monday robbery, the man presented a note to a teller demanding cash and fled on foot. The man did not show a weapon. The robbery is similar to the Oct. 14 attempted robbery in Des Plaines. In that incident, "The man approached the shift supervisor at the TCF Bank, and said, “Give me all your money or I’ll blow your head off.” He then showed the bank worker a notepad, which stated, …
