Language School Seeks Downtown Spot
A local start-up language school receives the Zoning Board of Appeals' OK.
When Nathan Ji moved to Milwaukee, WI, from Seoul, South Korea, in 1999, like many immigrants, he decided to learn English. The school where he studied, which he declined to identify, treated language education more as a business than as an educational organization. "There was an education purpose, but to me, I wanted something more than that," Ji said. Ji, program director of the International Education Institute (IEI) at 1507 Rand Rd., along with several other like-minded peers, is developing a business with a mission to give students a more meaningful experience in learning English than he had.
