The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Theft of Services Police responded to a theft report at Beacon Tap, 1364 Lee St., at 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 13. A man called the restaurant three times between 8:15 p.m. and 9:42 p.m. on Oct. 13, ordered $110.22 worth of food, police stated, and did not provide payment. During the first call at approximately 8:15 p.m., the man placed the order and, when the order-taker asked for a form of payment, according to the report, the man stated he would call back with a credit card. Approximately 10 minutes later the man called back and gave false credit card information, police stated, but the order was already placed. Long-standing Des Plaines landmark fails to impress
Sandwiched between Algonquin Road and Oakton Street is the Beacon Tap, an establishment known for its drink specials, live music and more than 50 years of history in Des Plaines. It may be a summer sanctuary during the warmer months -- complete with outdoor seating and a volleyball court – but that certainly wasn’t the case on a blustery Saturday afternoon in January. Unfortunately, the food did little to help warm my spirits. In fact, my meal was borderline cold, which baffled me because they weren’t busy at all. The place was so empty I could have heard my soda fizzling if it weren’t for the 15 plus TV’s blaring.
