Des Plaines Theatre’s Grand Opening

The historic venue will be used as a rental space.

Hundreds of residents, owners, families, politicians and well-wishers turned out for the Des Plaines Theatre’s grand opening Friday. Inside there were hors d’oeuvres, drinks, conversation and lots of flashing bulbs. Onstage The Shout Section Big Band belted out some swinging jazz numbers, and a few people danced. The theater will be a rental house, and will bring in all different types of acts, Allison Orr, manager at the theater, told attendees. “We’ll be able to really run the gamut,” Orr said. Many, Many years ago My Mom and I went here to see Dr. Zhivago. It was warm outside and the air conditioning was turned up real high. We had shorts on and were freezing watching all the winter scenes. Still a good memory of the DesPlaines Theatre. Glad they saved it.   more ›
