Des Plaines Man Drives Vehicle Into Building

A Des Plaines man drove his vehicle into a Park Ridge apartment complex on Oct. 30. Police said the man fled the scene and hid behind some bushes after his car caught on fire.

  Police are saying a Des Plaines man drove his vehicle into a building near Greenwood and Peterson avenues on Oct. 30. His vehicle would ultimately catch on fire and the offender would later flee the scene, police said. Grzegorz Klimko, 37, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a traffic control device around 9 p.m. Officers eventually found Klimko hiding behind some bushes in the 1300 block of Higgins Road, police said. According to police, two witnesses saw Klimko flee the scene after making contact with the building. No bystanders were reported injured.  He was taken to treat some minor injuries at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and was later released. …

Family of Teen Killed in Hit-and-Run Remember Him And Appeal For Answers

Choice Taylor's family tell of a smart, fun-loving young man taken from them too soon as they appeal to anyone with information to please come forward.

"Sometimes I'm numb, other times I'm just overwhelmed," said Loreene Taylor, as she briefly broke into sobs while speaking of her 17-yeard-old son, Choice Taylor, who was killed Friday evening in a hit-and-run accident on Algonquin Road. "I expected him to come home," she said. "I didn't expect that he would leave home and be found dead in the street." Choice was walking down Algonquin Road Friday around 6 p.m. on his way to Jewel-Osco food store at 1500 S. Lee St., where he was an employee, to pick up his paycheck when he was struck by a driver who fled the scene. Another driver noticed the young man's lifeless body and contacted police.
