Wednesday Blotter: Couple Conducts Quick-Change Scam On Clerk

Clerk didn't notice scam until closing.

The following items are taken from the Des Plaines Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Contributing to the delinquency of a minor July 1: Lucina Mercado, 18, of the 400 block of West Touhy Avenue, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of cannabis after she and a 15-year-old companion admitted to smoking cannabis during a traffic stop, according to a police report. Accidental damage to property June 21: Two people at separate residences reported storm damage to their homes: A tree fell on the roofs of a home and garage and also damaged gutters on the 500 block of West Cordial Avenue and a tree fell into the front of a home damaging the storm windows on the 1300 block of Briar Court. $125K Little Lotto Ticket Sold in Des Plaines

Winning ticket sold at local 7-Eleven.

Now may be the time to reconnect with old friends or settle any disagreements because someone in Des Plaines is $125,000 richer. The 7-Eleven convenience store at 1950 Touhy Ave. sold a winning Little Lotto ticket to an unidentified winner Wednesday, April 27. This was one of two six-figure winners in Cook County yesterday. The Des Plaines winner matched all five numbers - 2, 7, 11, 12, and 21. The store will receive a $1,250 bonus (one percent of the jackpot) for selling a winning ticket. The other $125,000 ticket was sold at Fairway Finer Foods, 200 E. 144th St., in Dolton.
