The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports. Disturbing the Peace Jeffrey A. Rak, 48, of Des Plaines, was charged with disturbing the peace after multiple neighbors reported to police he blasted his radio on more than one occasion to annoy his neighbors. According to the report, Rak also screamed at his neighbors on multiple occasions. When police asked Rak to turn the volume down, they smelled alcohol on his breath, and he was “verbally disrespectful” to the officers on the scene, police stated. Ribbon-cutting ceremony held this week on Lee Street.
The following information was submitted by the City of Des Plaines. Pizza Hut opened for business at 1397 Lee Street in Des Plaines this week. A ribbon cutting marked the official grand opening. Local city and chamber of commerce officials gathered with Pizza Hut employees for the event. An investigation into DUI arrests follows a complaint about fraudulent data, the Daily Herald reported.
The Illinois Department of Transportation has suspended funding for a traffic safety grant to Des Plaines, pending an investigation into data about DUI arrests that may have been fraudulent, the Daily Herald reported. Former Des Plaines police Commander Tim Veit approved the documents submitted for the grant money. Veit retired in April after more than 30 years in law enforcement.
