Since 1967, Des Plaines History Center has been devoted to preserving all historical material related to Des Plaines andMore bringing together history buffs in the community. Its collection houses more than 31,000 objects and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries. It hosts lectures, tours, Boy and Girl Scout programs and participates in and helps organize festivals throughout the year. The center also contains a museum and gift shop.

Don's offers fresh fish delivered 2-3 times a day at their deli counter, where customers are given the option to eat inMore or take out their order. It carries a variety of seafood options, and offer a catering service and dinner trays, in addition to the smaller scale menu. Don's has been family-owned and -operated since 1951. It maintains a focus on helping out the Des Plaines community whenever possible, dontating time, energy and funding to groups like the Boy Scouts, the Rotary Club,  the ACS and the Red Cross.
