streets full of potholes and rough pavement are the norm for dead plaines, good thing all the casino…Read More revenue is going towards infrastructure maint.what a joke moylan was, i hope matt does better and that won't take a whole lot to accomplish.moylan was more worried about painting little bicycles over potholed and decaying streets than he was about repairing them.what a waste of taxpayer dollars and public works manpower.

I know it's too late to do anything now, but really what should happen is that towns in IL…Read More especially near rivers that are quite high should really push it on people to sprinkle their grass / yards as much as possible. They should also let people sprinkle for free in order to get rid of water in rivers / lakes whether it takes a week or two weeks to make the water go down. Sure, you can tell people to sprinkle, but than they won't do it because of money, so it has to be for free. It's either that, or costing each city thousands and thousands of dollars. Imagine so many people using water constantly OUTSIDE their homes, and this flooding would NOT have occurred because the water levels would be down enough. Something major has to happen. I know in Wheeling they have built these higher walls, but that really doesn't solve the major problem that is happening, and has happened before. A better solution should happen. Another solution is too build massive other multiple ditches to hold water right around the Des Plaines river, Lake Michigan, etc. Water is a huge problem, and you can see what happened in New York / New Orleans (Katrina).

I really appreciate Mark Walsten and the Patch for keeping us informed about the road closures. It…Read More has really helped me get to work and back everyday. I will not complain, because my irritating commute pales in comparison to what a lot of residents are facing with flooding issues. My heart goes out to them.

Levee 50 kept Farmers creek dewatered for the whole event, No flooding along farmer’s creek…Read More was noted. What about all the people down stream from where all this water is added to the already swollen Des Plaines River? The people in Campground and the people living around Shagbark Lake come to mind. The Army Core knew that this would add millions (billions?) of gallons of water to the river, yet they made no improvements to allow for this. The people in Campgrounds were told to raise their 100+ year old frame buildings up above the flood stage?
And yet they brag about how well this project worked..
