Since 1966, this Des Plaines school has taught a growing population of young students. Today, the school accommodates pre-K through fifth graders. Plainfield is a Title One school and therefore requires all instructors to be highly qualified. The students have consistently earned state awards for academic achievement. With a 70% Hispanic population, the school has a bilingual program in which Spanish-speaking students from pre-K through grade two practice both Spanish and English, and "transition to English" in grade three.
