Des Plaines Public Library houses a vast collection of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and music. The four-story building is one the largest public libraries in the Chicagoland area. It offers free wi-fi and services for the vision- and hearing-impaired. There are meeting rooms that can be reserved for public use and it hosts regular events for kids, teens and adults, like Family Movie Night. I love the DP library! The staff is friendly (and not that's not a bit of nepotism there, they really are!), they have a wonderful collection of books, DVDs and CDs (as well as other resource materials) for both children and adults and they sponsor some wonderful programs. One of the can't miss events is their Friends Booksale where you can get some great bargains on gently used books. My kids also love the fish tank where they have their own "Nemo and Dory". Go DPPL!
