Des Plaines Firefighters, Local 4211, Participate in Susan G. Komen Walk

Des Plaines firefighters support the Susan G. Komen walk.

The following information was submitted by the city of Des Plaines.

Dressed in pink T-shirts, members of the Des Plaines Professional Firefighters, Local 4211, and their families and friends assisted walkers in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk for the Cure as they completed their journey back to the area base camp at Maryville Academy on August 10.

Tents were erected by the firefighters and their family members in a residential area off Wolf Road, where food, water, ice packs, and a cooling water spray were provided for relief and moral support, as more than 800 event participants completed the day’s 20-mile hike, a press release stated.

Des Plaines Firefighters also distributed pink bracelets and stickers, and will continue to sell pink T-shirts with proceeds going to breast cancer research.
