Twin Tornadoes Tear Through Nebraska

Pilger, Nebraska – At least two people were killed and dozens of homes destroyed after twin tornadoes tore through Nebraska Monday night.

CNN reported that the town of Pilger's business district was destroyed as was 40 to 50 homes and the towns fire station. Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger told CNN that about three-fourths of the town – population 350 – had been destroyed.

Unger told CNN that a five-year-old was killed and the other fatality was a traffic crash that likely was caused by the weather.

NBC News reported that at least 17 people had been injured

The National Weather Service was forecasting severe weather systems to move eastward, with predictions of thunderstorms hitting much of the Midwest and Great Lakes region Tuesday and Wednesday.
