Poll Results: No Faith in Dr. Oz

Patch readers weighed in on whether they trusted Dr. Oz following a Senate hearing on bogus weight loss ads.

Patch readers do not trust Dr. Oz.

Last week Patch asked whether readers trusted Dr. Oz. The celebrity TV doctor testified before Senate hearing on bogus weight-loss ads.

Although Oz has not endorsed specific products, companies have jumped on any opportunity to capitalize on his words.

The Patch poll garnered 14,082 votes with an overwhelming 75 percent responding that Oz promotes bogus supplements that cost consumers millions. Only 25 percent though Oz was not responsible for what marketers do with his opinions.

Patch readers also sounded off in the comment section:

User PirateGirl wrote, "I think "Dr. Oz" is nothing more than a 'made for TV doctor'. It's all about entertainment and big $$$$$$$$."

However, user Cindy countered, "What is missing from the story is what lobbyist/corporation is supporting the senators who are holding this hearing.....I trust Dr. Oz far more then any of our elected officials. I like the idea that our elected officials need to dress like race car drivers with patches showing all the lobbyist who are paying them to do their dirty deeds."
