A woman from New York found out her cancer returned one month into her pregnancy. She faced a choice, end the pregnancy or risk her life.
New York – One month into her pregnancy, Elizabeth Joice heard devastating news: The cancer she thought she'd beaten had returned.
A tumor was removed from her back, but couldn't know where else the cancer might be without further treatment. Treatment that would end her pregnancy, CNN reported.
By her third trimester, Joice was having trouble breathing, she had tumors in her lungs. CNN reported that doctors performed a c-section and her daughter Lily was born.
Six weeks later, Elizabeth Joice died at the age of 36.
