When Will We See Warmer Weather in Des Plaines?

Early June in 2013 has proven to be one of the coldest in history, according to Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling.

For many Des Plaines residents that crave scorching-hot temperatures once summer rolls around, June has provided a disappointing start.

Temperatures in the first four days of June in Chicago were 4.9 degrees below normal temperatures, putting the start of this June among the coldest 26 percent of all similar periods dating back to 1871, according to Chicago meteorologist Tom Skilling's Chicago Weather Center blog.

Meanwhile, water temperatures along the shoreline of Lake Michigan have been recorded as five degrees cooler than a year ago, according to Skilling's blog.

Today in Des Plaines, temperatures are expected to reach 66 degrees with rain and thunderstorms around.

Looking ahead, temperatures will climb over the weekend, with a high of 73 on Saturday and 78 degrees Sunday, according to accuweather.com.
