Des Plaines Summer Fling Set for July 19-21

Information submitted by the city of Des Plaines.

Tons of community fun will be on the menu when Des Plaines Summer Fling returns for its third festive year Friday-Sunday, July 19-21, in Des Plaines.

In addition to plenty of classic pop/rock, arts & crafts, food, carnival rides, cool kids'/family stuff (including art activities, pony rides and, on Saturday, Radio Disney), expect  some two-steppin as this year's Summer Fling introduces a "Country Sunday" theme on July 21, a press release from the city states.

In addition to the country rock of the Brass Buckle Band and country classics from the Suburban Cowboys, Sunday also features a day-long visit from country radio's US99.5 Road Show.

For those favoring more classic tunes, Saturday's headliner is legendary '60s sunshine popsters (and Chicagoland natives) The Buckinghams. They'll be preceded by the Fortunate Sons (Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute) and the vintage R&B and rock stylings of Suite Molly Seven.
