Adult trip to Red Oaks Nature Center and the Growing Place

Join the Des Plaines park district on a day trip to Red Oaks Nature Center (North Aurora) and the Growing Place

Bring your bike or your hiking shoes. Nestled in 40 acres of woods along the east band of the Fox River and connected to the Fox River Trail, the Nature Center is the perfect place to enjoy a morning hike or ride. Be sure to visit Devil’s Cave, the Center’s claim to fame. Inside the center, feel the wonder of shrinking and explore the inside of a leaf and other marvels of nature. Relax on the observation desk, perfect for bird watching and enjoying the river. Lunch will be at the Growing Place Garden Center. We’ll tour the 26 themed learning gardens including Heirloom, Moonlit, and Train Gardens and learn about the right plants for the right places. We will have time to shop for fall plants and farm produce.
