Join the Des Plaines Park District on a day trip to the Kankakee River and Kankakee County Quilt Barn Tour

A rich tapestry of woods and prairie line the banks of the Kankakee River. At Perry Farm, the paved trails through lands once inhabited by Native Americans are perfect for a morning a walk after our drive to Kankakee. Paths will lead you to limestone bluffs, Indian caves and ravines that make the Kankakee River and its shores as beautiful as any in the state. Lunch in Kankakee will be at the Homestead Restaurant, family-owned since 1906. Discover the Barn Quilts of Kankakee County, how they are made and the stories behind them, as we drive the Kankakee Barn Quilt tour. Our final destination will be the Willow Haven Interpretive Center. Enjoy the gardens and stretch your legs before the ride home.
