Q&A: Maine West Parent, Maine East Substitute Teacher, Dist. 62 Board Member

Stephanie Duckmann, 47, has lived in Des Plaines for 12 years. Two of her sons, James and Crosley Duckmann, and her nephew, Geoff Duckmann, attend . Duckmann is a substitute teacher at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, and she is also the vice president of .

On Tuesday evening Duckmann watched her sons and nephew play a baseball at Maine West against Maine East. In between innings Duckmann answered a few questions about Des Plaines.

Patch: Where is one of your favorite places to go in Des Plaines?

Duckmann: off Touhy. The dinners are great, and it’s BYOB. Last time I was there I had salmon with risotto; it was awesome.

It’s a place you wouldn’t expect to be good. If you just drove by it you might not stop.

Patch: What is one of your favorite things to do in Des Plaines?

Duckmann: Watch my sons and nephew in sporting events. James and Crosley also play hockey and golf, and Geoff is in the marching band.

Patch: What is one thing you know about Des Plaines that others may not?

Duckmann: You can sail a sailboat in Des Plaines — on Lake Opeka, which I didn’t know when I moved here. I haven’t done it yet, but I would like to. It sounds like a good time.
