Niles Native to Face World-Ranked Boxer on ESPN's Friday Night Fights

Despite having an injured hand, Donovan George, of Niles, IL, will square off against Dionisio Miranda, on ESPN's Friday Night Lights on Aug. 17.

Donovan George, a Maine East High School graduate and Niles native, will be fighting in Oklahoma on ESPN's Friday Night Fights tonight.

The 27-year-old George will be fighting against Dionisio Miranda for 10 rounds in a super middleweight bout. While George has a strong record of 22-2 (19 KOs), Miranda is considered to be the number-two fighter in the world for his weight class. Miranda, 30, from South America, has a 21-7-2 (18 KO) record.

"I'm discouraged," George told the Chicago Tribune. "I have a contusion in my right hand, but I'm fighting. The only cure [for it] is to not fight," he added. "And that's not an option."
