Need to Register Your Child For School In Des Plaines? Here's How

New to the area? Find registration information for Des Plaines' three school districts below.

With swimming pools beckoning and ice cream cones melting, parents can be forgiven for not getting around to registering their children for school yet.

Des Plaines School District 62

School begins Aug. 29 grades 1-8, Kindergarten begins Aug. 29

(Seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one school of choice serving Des Plaines.)

Save the date! Open registration takes place Tuesday, Aug. 16 for 6th graders and Wednesday, Aug. 17 for 7th and 8th graders from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Algonquin Middles School. Registration packets can be picked up from the school office Mon - Fri from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. 

Elementary school registration is open on a daily basis through Aug. 17. Due to construction, please call the District 62 Administration office at 847-824-1136 to learn where to register your child.

When registering your child please bring the following: a  copy of his/her birth certificate, your mortgage, rental agreement or tax statement, and two of either your driver's license, a utility bill, vehicle registration, voter registration or a piece of mail with your name and address on it. 

Registration fees will be due at time of registration (minimum fee approximately $127.00 per child). Yearbook/ID pictures will be taken. 

Community Consolidated School District 59

School begins Aug. 24

(10 elementary schools, three junior high schools and one school of choice serving parts of Des Plaines, Elk Grove, Mt. Prospect and Arlington Heights.)

New students may register at any District 59 School between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Parents must bring a certified birth certificate or passport and three proofs of residency, which include: your most recent tax bill, signed lease for residence, driver’s license, gas or electric bill, voter registration card or other documents verifying residence in School District 59.

The District 59 Administration office, 847-593-4300, can answer additional questions.

East Maine School District 63

School begins Aug. 23

(Six elementary schools and one junior high serving the north part of Niles as well as parts of Morton Grove, Des Plaines and Glenview.)

Registration takes place Monday Aug. 8 from 8 am. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Gemini Junior High School, 8955 N. Greenwood Ave., Niles. 

New families to District 63 should bring each child's original birth certificate, your mortgage or lease, and three proofs of residency. The District 63 Administration office, (847) 299-1900, can answer additional questions.
