Maine West Homecoming Schedule 2012: 'Pirate's Life for West' Theme

Homecoming assembly, court, parade, game, dance and more are all part of the tradition.

Traditions of many kinds will be kept in Maine West High School’s homecoming events this weekend. There will be an hour-and-a-half homecoming assembly at 12:30 p.m. with lots of fun activities based on this year’s theme — “Pirates’ Life for West” — said Dave Berendt, principal for students.

Berendt, who’s been in education for 20 years and a principal for students for six years, said they always have a lot of fun with the homecoming theme. In addition to the marching band, cheerleaders, poms, the homecoming court, the Warrior’s dance, the announcement of the annual school charity voted on by students, class games and other activities, Berendt said there would be some surprises.

Careful not to give away too many details, Berendt said something would be stolen during the rally.

Berendt said, since enacting the policy within the last year, inappropriate behavior on the dance floor has not been a significant issue.
