Maine Township High School Candidates Talk Hazing

Several school board candidates spoke to the Journal & Topics Newspaper about hazing.

 

Maine Township High School District 207 School Board candidates sounded off about hazing to the Journal and Topics Newspaper recently.

Jeff Spero said the Maine West incident could have been prevented if alleged hazing incidents that occurred in the past were handled appropriately. Eldon Burk told the paper that the school district needs to educate kids and staff on the issue. Mary Childers said younger children need to learn how to communicate with words instead of violence. Jin Lee said parents need to get involved and be educated on the subject matter as well.

Candidates Margaret McGrath, Carla Owen and Sean Story were not able to attend the interview, the newspaper reports.
