Mr. Maine West Competition Held This Thursday

It's talent. It's fashion. It's dancing. It's competition. And it's one of the most entertaining events of the year at , as Orchesis presents the 2010 edition of "Mr. Maine West" on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Ten Maine West guys – six seniors, two juniors, one sophomore and one freshman – will compete for the coveted title.  The evening will open with the contestants sporting casual wear as they escort their mothers to their front-row seats.

Then, half of the contestants will present their selected talent, while the other half will do their best in a Question-and-Answer segment, with the questions all pertaining to Maine West.

After contestants model beach apparel, they will again split into two groups to finish up the talent and Q&A portions. Finally, all ten will appear in formal wear, escorted by Orchesis members wearing prom dresses.

As the judges ponder their decision, contestants will present a group dance choreographed by two Orchesis members. Orchesis members then will present a dance number themselves before the evening culminates with the announcement of Mr. Maine West for 2010-11.

This year's contestants are Spencer Armstrong, Ryan Atherton, Ruben Castro, Scott Farnan. Rasheed Habler, Brian Jozefat, Kevin Murphy, Eli Roco, Ryan Suevel and Manoj Sunny.

Tickets cost $6 and will be available at the door. Maine West High School is located at 1755 South Wolf Road in Des Plaines.
