Central Suburban League Hosts College Recruiting Night

Central Suburban League President Steve Adams of Maine South High School has announced that the league will unveil a College Recruiting Night available to juniors, sophomores and freshman in all 12 Central Suburban League schools. The event will take place on March 24, 2011 at 7:30 pm. The site selected for this year’s event is the Cornog Theatre on New Trier High School’s Northfield Campus.

The list of featured speakers will include Maureen Harty, Assistant Athletic Director and Compliance Officer at Northwestern University; John Thorne, Head Football Coach, North Central College; Jackie Slaats, Athletic Director and Senior Adviser to the President, Lake Forest College; Beth Arey, College Guidance Counselor, Evanston High School; and Susie Thorngren, Coordinator of the Career Development program at New Trier High School.  Each panelist will speak on their area of expertise and a panel discussion with a question-and-answer period will follow.

“This event is intended to accomplish two goals” said Adams.  “We wish to support all students interested in intercollegiate athletics by providing insight into the recruiting process early in their high school career.  We also were determined to attract experts in the recruiting field who could speak to families about college athletics regardless of the intended level of play.  By opening the evening to the entire Central Suburban League, we have been able to do both.  Our list of featured speakers will provide our students and families with incredible insight. We encourage each CSL family with collegiate athletic interest not to miss this evening.”
