District 207 Spends $115,000 on Hazing Investigation

A Chicago-based law firm conducted the investigation regarding allegations that members of the Maine West boys soccer team were sexually assaulted.

The district hired Hinshaw & Culbertson law firm earlier this year to look into the matter at the Des Plaines high school. The investigation revealed that staff members “responded appropriately” when two 14-year-old soccer players told them they were sexually assaulted during a hazing event, the newspaper reports.

A lawsuit against the district and two former coaches is still pending in the court system. The suit claims the coaches did not take action when told about the hazing incident. Michael Divincenzo ultimately lost his job over the issue.
