D-62, D-207 Activities Canceled; Snow Blankets Des Plaines

Band rehearsal, athletic events, more will not be held at Community Consolidated School District 62 schools Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, according to a spokesperson.

Before and after school activities for Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning for Community Consolidated School District 62 have been canceled due to inclement weather conditions, said Mindy Ward, spokesperson for the Des Plaines school district. Ward said class and bus schedules remained unchanged.

“Right now we’re operating on a normal schedule,” Ward said.

A concert, athletic events, club meetings and other after-school activities were canceled, Ward said, as were before-school activities including band and orchestra rehearsals.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect today from noon until 9 p.m., with 3 to 6 inches of snow expected to fall on Tuesday.

The Illinois Tollway mobilized its full fleet of 182 snowplows in response to sleet and snow that is expected to continue overnight.

Maine Township High School District 207 schools and Our Lady of Destiny schoool in Des Plaines also canceled afterschool activities on Tuesday.
