Is it Time for Term Limits in Illinois?

What's your opinion? Yay or nay for term limits in Illinois?

A proposal from Illinois' top two GOP lawmakers to have a constitutional amendment instituting term limits for the executive branch on the November ballot failed to make it out of the Illinois Senate this week. But while that was going on, a citizen-led and Bruce Rauner-backed initiative to institute legislative term limits was approved by the Illinois State Board of Elections and placed on the November ballot.

All of this begs the question, should Illinois have term limits for our politicians? We have a survey where you can make your view on the topic heard.

And if you're curious about this week's stories, we have a roundup on them plus a look at the shelving of a progressive income tax amendment by the measure's sponsor.

As much as Mike Madigan is the target here, I see it less partisan with so many people just frustrated with state management. In other states the Republican party is entrenched and they have the party lead as their villain. The media fans the flames with random examples of abuse and little depth to give people context. Over time people get jaded, desperate and the bar of what is acceptable policy drops.

MJ smith, yeah, you got "elections" but what do you do when same crooks show up on the ballot? Can't you see the rich crooks outspend anyone and the clowns keep voting for them? Can't you see we don't get rid of some politicians unless they go to prison or into ground like Soviet leaders? Term limits levels the playing field...without it we will still have presidential elections between Bush (one of them) and Clinton (one of them) so forget elections, it is the choice you have and without term limits is always same choice, same reheated old soup...nothing keep same connected people from not showing up on the ballot over and over again and this is why life is the way it is: same players playing same useless insipid boring uninspiring game where they always win no matter which party they belong to while you, the voter, gets tricked into believing elections matter: they don't if choices are limited to same old garbage.

YES! We have UNRESPONSIVE LEADERS! One term should be all. Right now they are in for "LIFE" They screw with the working man's pensions and tax us so we can't live comfortably. . Look at the Madigans, Durbins and the Daleys, they care for themselves and have no idea what is really needed. They are useless moronic politicians. Our founding fathers wanted us to serve our fellow man, not rip them off like our leaders do now. Our country's state problems are caused by life politicians. THERE Needs to be one term limits for ALL forms of government. Township governments also need to be abolished! What a useless form of government that is!

While in power these so called leaders look for ways to get re-elected as soon as the term starts. The lifers worry about how much they can steal and mess with hard working peoples lives.
