Train Horns to Sound During Railroad Project

Residents might have to endure some train horns being sounded during a maintenance project along the Union Pacific Northwest line.

The work will include replacing railroad ties along the Union Pacific Northwest Line – Harvard Subdivision, a press release from the city states. The work is starting in Chicago and continue through the northwest side up to the far northwestern suburbs, including Des Plaines.

The work will go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and should be completed at the end of October. During the work trains will be required to sound their horns for safety purposes, per federal regulations.
