Three Promoted in Des Plaines Police Department

Promotions to deputy chief, commander and sergeant at the Des Plaines Police Department were announced at a city council meeting on Monday.

Recent promotions in the Des Plaines Police Department were recognized by city council at a meeting at city hall on Monday.

Nicholas Treantafeles was promoted from commander to deputy chief of support services, Randy Akin was promoted from sergeant to commander of investigations and Jeffrey Jacoby was promoted from detective to sergeant.

The changes are the latest developments in the department, which has undergone replacements in many top-level positions in the last two years including police chief, deputy chiefs, commanders and others.

In a memorandum from Des Plaines Police Chief William Kushner to City Manager Michael Bartholomew on Nov. 27, Kushner stated the promotions were given “in order to ensure succession planning and development of personnel within the Des Plaines Police Department, and to ensure continuity of operations.”

“These personnel are to be congratulated for their accomplishment,” Kushner stated.
