Back-to-school time at the Des Plaines library means we’re thinking of all the ways we can help Des Plaines students succeed. We’re here to help take the stress out of back to school.

One of the most exciting new services we are offering to high school students is an opportunity to borrow Macbook Pro laptop computers. You can check out a Macbook just like a book.

Macbooks can be used for research and writing, but they aren’t just for students without home computers. We’ve loaded them with iLife applications. So the next time you want to make music or a video for school or fun, don’t panic; just head over to the Des Plaines Public Library.

The library’s Macbook Pros may be used on the third floor of the library, in the Teen Lounge and near the Readers’ Services desk. A photo ID and valid library card are required to check out the new computers.

Due to the small number of Macbook Pros, time limits may be set. But teens will get at least one hour of use at a time. Ask staff at the Readers’ Services desk to borrow the Macbooks.

Your Des Plaines library card combined with a Macbook Pro gives you access to so many great resources including online homework help from HelpNow!, free music downloads from Freegal and online reference materials from Virtual Reference Library. If you have any questions about our online resources, please stop by one of the public desks and ask; we’re here to help.
