Household Limit for Dogs Reviewed by Des Plaines

Currently, Des Plaines allows up to three dogs per household, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A Des Plaines resident has asked the city to consider increasing its legal limit of dogs per household from three to four, the Chicago Tribune reported. Currently there are no limits on the number of cats a household may have, and Michael Bartholomew, city manager, said he didn’t know why the city chose the limit of three for dogs, according to the report.

In August the city held a public meeting to discuss the viability of a new dog park to be built in Des Plaines. .

Also in August the Des Plaines Park District began allowing residents to bring their canine companions to all public parks, as long as they are on leashes and owners bring waste bags with to pick up after the dogs.
