Former Des Plaines Mayor Tosses Hat in Ring for 2013

Tony Arredia served as mayor from 2000-2009, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported.

Former Des Plaines mayor Tony Arredia announced his candidacy for mayor in the consolidated election next spring at a Des Plaines restaurant on Monday, Journal and Topics Newspapers reported.

Arredia was mayor from 2000-2009, when term limits prevented him from running again. Des Plaines Mayor Martin Moylan is running to represent the new 55th House District in the general election in November. Susan Sweeney, a Republican from Park Ridge, is running against Moylan.

Third Ward Alderman Matthew Bogusz, Fourth Ward Alderman Dick Sayad and Sixth Ward Alderman Mark Walsten have also expressed interest in running for mayor, but have not announced their candidacies.
