Fastest Wooden Coaster Planned for Great America

A new wooden roller coaster, billed as the fastest and steepest of its kind is coming to Six Flags in 2014.

Get ready to scream from a new roller coaster at Six Flags next year. In 2014, the Gurnee theme park will introduce Goliath, which it is calling the fastest wooden roller coaster in the world, according to a release from the park.
The Chicago Tribune reports the new coaster is also being called the world's fastest wooden coaster, with the tallest and steepest drop of any wooden coster. Park officials say it will be "the most extreme coaster of its kind on the planet," park officials said.
Goliath will take riders up a 165-foot hill before going over a peak, and plunging down the world's tallest and steepest drop of 180 feet, at 85-degrees. It will travel up to 72 mph over through three turns, will have a 180-degree zero-gravity roll and an inverted zero-gravity stall.
It is scheduled to be ready in spring 2014.
