Groundbreaking for I-294 Exit Ramp at Balmoral Avenue

Village puts up $14.2 million for I-294 Balmoral off-ramp

WHAT:        Groundbreaking for unprecedented off-ramp on the northbound Tri-State (I-294) at Balmoral Avenue in Rosemont, IL.

WHY:             In March 2011, the Illinois Tollway Authority and the Village of Rosemont entered into a unique intergovernmental agreement in which Rosemont will pay for the $14.2 million off-ramp. The Village will be reimbursed with tolls over the coming years. When completed, the off-ramp will provide a new front door to the Village.
Additionally, the exit will relieve traffic on River Road by providing an alternative entrance to O’Hare airport. The new ramp will offer faster, more convenient access to Rosemont's Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont Theatre and dozens of hotels. Immediately adjacent to the exit is the new The Park at Rosemont entertainment district described as “Rockefeller Center meets Times Square.”  Phase one construction of the project is now underway.

WHERE:         Balmoral Avenue viaduct at I-294. Southeast corner of I-294 and Balmoral Intersection.
